The defense industry is undergoing a transformation. Projects dried up, and expertise was lost—both on the part of clients and in planning and execution. Specialized industry knowledge is no longer a given today, making the promotion of relevant skills a central task—especially since requirements have increased. Compared to the 1970s, issues such as regulatory compliance, documentation requirements, IT security, and complex project organization are far more significant today. It is no coincidence that the defense industry is characterized by highly regulated, sensitive, and technologically demanding processes.

Responsibility in a Time of Change

Yet this transformation also presents opportunities. Investments by the defense industry not only strengthen the ability to act in the realm of security policy but also provide economic momentum. By driving technological advancements and creating new jobs, entire value chains benefit. At the same time, responsibility is growing, which is why the A&D sector is more than ever the focus of politics and society. Robust structures require trust. This, in turn, requires transparency and compliance with regulations—and, not least, forward-looking planning with a clear awareness of this special responsibility.
