Implementing SAP with subsequent worldwide roll out for Harman International

io originally introduced SAP at Harman in 1997. Since then, the consulting firm has supported Harman in globally rolling out SAP applications, as well as introducing mobile data collection processes in Germany, the USA, China, India, Mexico and Hungary.

io implemented SAP from conception to realization with all logistics modules: MM, WM, SD, QM, PM, PS, serial number implementation, mobile data entry, and SAP workflows.

Harman also uses several Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) from SAP to control production. io supported Harman in replacing old individual solutions and introducing new interfaces based on SAP’s best practice solution. Processes between the ERP and the ME systems were mapped in relation to confirmations, stock transfers, serialization and packaging in production.

Harman now has three productive SAP systems in use: Connected Car, Lifestyle Audio and Professional Solutions.

Live demos and process examples illustrated various scenarios and options offered in the Harman system to key users, such as how to manage all activities related to maintaining technical machinery or equipment, taking into account the different circumstances and requirements of individual countries.

The project was successfully completed at all ten relevant locations – from Suzhou in China to Székesfehérvár, Hungary, and Tijuana, Mexico. It included not only the standard SAP modules, but also the SAP Mobile Asset Manager for mobile maintenance and project management, and io’s own WebScan application for mobile data capture in warehouse and material management (WM / MM), and sales and distribution (SD).
