Project overview

io is currently implementing SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud as an end-to-end solution for furniture wholesaler MCA furniture GmbH. The implementation aims to map and optimize all of the company’s relevant business processes.

The MCA Group consists of six companies. These include trading companies for living and dining rooms, bedrooms and upholstered furniture as well as logistics and trade operations in Asia. The cloud solution takes care of all accounting tasks, controlling, purchasing for logistics, as well as services, management of the German warehouses, sales, transportation and complaints management.

System selection

MCA required a system-agnostic approach with various strategic reasons leading them to ultimately opt for SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition:

  • Scalability: The public cloud offers flexible scaling opportunities to respond agilely to changing customer demands and markets and support business growth.
  • Hosting via SAP: The solution is hosted directly by SAP, ensuring high data availability and security.
  • Self Enablement (Key User): The solution supports key users to be able to train and adapt independently.
  • End-to-end: SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud covers all of MCA’s key business processes in a single integrated platform, improving efficiency and data quality significantly.

Key Facts

Client

MCA furniture GmbH is a furniture trading company operating as an international wholesaler, supplying bricks and mortar and online retailers in Germany and abroad. Its extensive product portfolio offers customers a wide range of dining and living room furniture, tables, chairs, recliners, TV furniture, wardrobes, office furniture, bar stools and coffee tables.

Requirements

  • Replacing the old system
  • Implementation of an ERP for accounting, controlling, purchasing, warehousing, sales, transportation and complaints management

Solution

Project methodology

The implementation follows the SAP Activate project methodology, a well-established process model. After specifying MCA’s requirements in the so-called Explore Phase, the solution is then being configured, tested and prepared for go-live in the Realize Phase. Using the public cloud means methodically using best practices, immediately available, preconfigured, integrated business processes. While this fit-to-standard approach entails some need for change management at the company, it significantly simplifies the introduction from a technical standpoint.

Current situation and prognosis

The configuration of the systems and initial tests of the business processes have already been carried out in the Realize Phase. The focus is now on the remaining fine-tuning and extensive final testing to ensure a smooth transition to the go-live phase..

MCA’s business processes will be more efficient and future-proof thanks to the new system.
