A New Face at the Top: Christian Schindler

Handover at the German Logistics Association (BVL): The Southern Bavaria Regional Group has elected a new team of spokespersons: Karen Klement, Tobias Hecht—and Christian Schindler, Principal Consultant at io in Munich. He began his volunteer role at the regional group’s management meeting—fittingly in Esslingen, where his family roots lie. “My grandfather founded his company here in the 1950s, specializing in transport packaging and strapping equipment. It’s a true ‘back to the roots’ moment—and at the same time, the start of an intense and inspiring time with the BVL,” Schindler said happily.

Plenty to do

As spokesperson for his regional group, Schindler now serves as a liaison between the BVL headquarters in Bremen and the members in the Southern Bavaria region, making him the face of the BVL locally. In addition, he is responsible for organizing and carrying out regional events—including expert presentations, company tours, discussion forums, and networking events. His other duties include coordinating the volunteer regional team, maintaining the regional network, and strengthening the BVL’s image in the Southern Bavaria region.

The Network

The BVL sees itself as an open network of people who actively advocate for efficient collaboration in the globalized economy. Its core objective is to communicate the importance of supply chain management and logistics. It also aims to promote their application and development. The BVL has 28 regional groups in Germany as well as nine international chapters, including two in China—for a total of 37 groups. In addition, there is the Young Professionals network and the Ladies in Logistics initiative.

Each year, the BVL organizes around 300 events. The BVL Supply Chain CX is the centerpiece of these events. This year, it will take place from October 22 to 24 at the Estrel in Berlin, which will be transformed into a space for exchange, innovation, and cooperation for the event. More than 120 exhibitors will present new visions and practical solutions to current challenges. High-profile industry leaders such as Achim Puchert, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, and Nadine Despineux, Chief Sales Officer at Jungheinrich, have been invited to speak. In addition, the presentation of the German Logistics Award underscores the BVL’s status as Europe’s largest logistics and supply chain network.
